Palma, August 1st 2019. Hotelbeds, the world’s leading bedbank, today announced a double-digit percentage increase in room night sales for the Balearic Islands, with more than 30% growth in the last eight weeks, when compared to the previous summer.

This strong growth for Hotelbeds contrasts with a season of lower demand and average rates for this summer when compared to previous years in the Balearic Islands and, therefore, demonstrates the great value that Hotelbeds offers to hoteliers by making available its extensive network of 60,000 B2B travel trade clients in a period of low occupancy.

In fact, this growth has been led by the increase in reservations of high-value B2B clients for hoteliers, such as retail travel agencies, traditional tour operators and airlines, whose travelers cancel less, book further in advance, spend more in destination and comeback more often.

Although the main source market for the company is the UK, followed by Spain, it is the German market that has registered an increase above 50% when compared to last year.

Germany, in contrast to the experience of the market, is the main driver of growth for the company in the Balearic Islands, supported by other markets with a significant increase such as Holland, France, Italy and Switzerland. Altogether Hotelbeds has attracted this summer B2B clients from more than 100 source markets to the Balearic Islands.

At the same time it is necessary to highlight as one of the key factors behind this success the preferred agreements that Hotelbeds has with some high-value hoteliers, which offers great stability in booking volumes for hoteliers and competitive rates for customers.

Marina Pérez Zanutel, Director of Contracting for the Balearic Islands at Hotelbeds adds: “Although the general occupancy rate this summer seems to be low in many Balearic hotels, and the RevPAR average has decreased, the increase in our reservations proves the value we bring to hoteliers, offering them more reservations where and when they need them most. In fact, out platform now has five times more availability in August than last year, which demonstrates the great contracting work our local team is doing.

“At Hotelbeds, additionally we are increasing market share in an environment of complicated demand and strong competition from destinations such as Turkey, Greece, Tunisia or Egypt. Our preferred agreements help us meet the strong demand for our distribution channel.”

Currently Hotelbeds is registering advanced sales for 2020, especially from traditional source markets such as the United Kingdom and Germany. Taking advantage of this dynamic, Hotelbeds is focusing its efforts on contracting more accommodation to support hoteliers on the islands to fill their rooms for next year.

With this agreement HotelRunner increases its connectivity partnership program by helping its 35,000 hotel, hostel and vacation rental partners reach the over 60,000 travel trade buyers that use the Hotelbeds booking platform – including tour operators, travel agencies, airlines and points redemption schemes in over 185 source markets.

As a result of gaining access to Hotelbed’s travel trade buyers the accommodation partners of HotelRunner will benefit from incremental reservations from non-domestic markets via&nbsp; Hotelbeds global distribution channels that generate high-value bookings with guests that, on average, book earlier, cancel less, stay for longer and spend twice as much in destination.

	The launch forms part of a partnership with global technology and cloud leader Alibaba Cloud.
	MaxiRoom was originally launched in 2015 and helps hotel providers to maximize distribution globally via Hotelbeds’ 60,000 travel agent, tour operator, airline and points redemption buyers globally.

Shanghai, June 17, 2019. Hotelbeds, the world’s leading bedbank, has recently launched a China-based hotel extranet solution for hoteliers in China.

As of today China-based hoteliers will have access to a Chinese domain version of MaxiRoom, the Hotelbeds free hotel extranet that was launched in 2015. MaxiRoom is designed to control and maximize hotel occupancy rates through Hotelbeds’ distribution channels in a faster, smarter and easier way.

Chinese hoteliers will be able to access MaxiRoom via a Chinese domain –&nbsp; https://www.maxiroom.cn – allowing them to access Maxiroom without facing any restrictions and in Chinese.

Hotelbeds launches Chinese domain for its hotel extranet 


	Over 700 attendees at MarketHub Americas and Europe events – made up of travel agencies, tour operators, airlines and points redemption partners – were surveyed on their technology views.
	Only 18% of those surveyed felt their mobile consumer website “best in class” and only 24% have adopted machine learning capacity.
	Many B2C travel companies in Europe admitted that their business has “no near future plans to embrace blockchain”, with only 11% having already adopted the technology.


Palma,&nbsp; 13th June 2019 – Hotelbeds, the world´s nº1 leading bedbank, has today released details of the audience surveys conducted at its recent MarketHub Americas and Europe events held last May in Cancun and Istanbul respectively.

Participants at both MarketHub events – which were attended by over 700 senior representatives from travel agencies, tour operators, airlines and points redemption partners from across the Americas and Europe– took part in audience surveys digitally during the conference sessions. Attendees responded to a series of questions about their views and understanding of technology.

The results showed that whilst the B2C travel companies are aware of the importance of technology to drive growth in their businesses, nevertheless many intermediaries in the B2C space are struggling to respond to the challenges of new technology – and could boost their business by both improving their technology and their understanding of its benefits.

When attendees at the MarketHub Americas event were asked “How do you rate your consumer mobile website?”, 44% of respondents said they needed a little help, 23% said they needed a lot of help, 6% admitted they were awful in this area, and 9% admitted to not having a site. Only 18% felt their mobile consumer site to be best in class.

Additionally, the results showed that machine learning still represents a huge opportunity for B2C travel companies. Only 24% were able to confirm that their business was currently using machine learning, with 10% having plans to introduce machine learning and 6% having no plans. Interestingly, 38% weren´t sure if their business was using machine learning or not.

MarketHub Europe audience results showed that around 78% of the attendees admitted that their business has “no near future plans to embrace blockchain”, with only 11% having already adopted the technology and the small remainder planning to do so in the coming 12 months.

When asked about marketing automation in their business, 14% of the European event attendees didn’t know if their business was using it and 15% confirmed they weren’t using it at all; an additional 37% revealed they were only using the most basic of automation techniques, with only 22% feeling themselves “reasonably advanced” and just 11% feeling themselves “advanced”.

Istanbul, 30th May 2019. Hotelbeds, the world’s nº 1 B2B bedbank, has confirmed today at MarketHub Europe event, which takes place in Istanbul from 28th to 31st May, an increase in the number of European hotel partners available for its B2B travel buyers globally.

During the last year Hotelbeds has increased in Europe by 5,000 the number of unique hotels available on its platform to its global network of over 60,000 B2B travel buyers such as retail travel agents, tour operators, airlines and points redemption schemes.

Currently a total of 70,000 unique hotels are available on the Hotelbeds system in Europe, of which 40% of them are directly contracted under exclusive terms and conditions – whilst at a global level over 180,000 unique hotels are available on the platform.

In Turkey, where the MarketHub Europe event is taking place, the number of hotels contracted increased by 300 during the last year reaching a total of 4,500 hotels available to book.

5,000 additional European hoteliers recognize the value of B2B sales channel


	Analysis shows that around 86% of reservations that Hotelbeds offers its European hotel partners originate from non-domestic source markets – with around one in three coming from non-European, long-haul source markets.
	Proportion of long-haul bookings has recently grown thanks to China bookings, with China now ranking as Hotelbeds’ sixth biggest source market travelling to Europe, up 40% compared to the same period last year.
	Non-domestic, and in particular long-haul, bookings typically pay a higher rate, cancel less, are made further in advance, stay for longer, spend more in destination and return more often.


Istanbul, 29th May, 2019 – Hotelbeds, the world´s nº1 B2B bedbank, has today provided at MarketHub Europe event, which takes place this week in Istanbul, an update on the non-domestic bookings that its B2B sales platform offers to its European hotel partners.

Hotelbeds can confirm that 86% of its bookings for European destinations are non-domestic. Additionally, 28% of its European hotel reservations currently come from non-European, long-haul source markets, up from around 25% in 2018.

This growth in international tourists arriving to Europe can be mainly attributed to a 40% year-on-year increase in reservations for Chinese tourists via Hotelbeds, with China now ranking as Hotelbeds’ sixth biggest source market to Europe.

“But now the boom in Chinese visitors is increasing the percentage of non-European bookings even higher. The program, which was recently launched at the company’s headquarters in Palma, Spain, has already reached a participation rate of 60% amongst employees where the programme is live. &nbsp;

Employees have already participated in around 230 volunteering activities and dedicated 5,000+ hours to support the following areas: the environment, health, people at risk of social exclusion, poverty and childhood.

Launched in the first office one year ago, Hotelbeds has gradually rolled out the program globally hosting 11 events across its different Hotelbeds offices worldwide, including Orlando, Singapore, Bangkok, Cancun, Tel Aviv, Dubai, London, Beijing, Shanghai, Zurich and most recently the headquarters in Palma de Mallorca, reaching a total of 3,000 of&nbsp; 5,000 employees worldwide.

Meanwhile, the signing of significant strategic hotelier partnerships during the last year has helped to grow the number of hotels in the Americas region by nearly 14%. This forms part of a steady growth as every year more and more hoteliers seek to gain access to Hotelbeds’ complementary bookings via its network of 60,000 travel intermediaries, including tour operators, retail travel agents, airlines, points redemption and loyalty partners.

The MarketHub Americas event is an invitation-only, three-day event attended by some of the most important Hotelbeds partners from all the key markets across the Americas. Attendees range from senior executives and decision makers from tour operators, airlines, loyalty and point redemption businesses to leading travel agency chains and online travel advisors.

MarketHub is a key industry event with a successful track record since 2009. The MarketHub Americas will bring together travel distributors from across 16 markets in the region and will have an attendance of over 580 participants. The event this year will kick-off on Tuesday May 7th through Friday May 10th.&nbsp;

This follows the news of Hotelbeds signing a significantly expanded partnership with KILIT HOSPITALITY GROUP, Turkey’s biggest leisure hotel operator, plus becoming the first bedbank distribution partner for OYO Hotels &amp; Homes, the world’s sixth largest hotel chain. In March the company announced an expansion of its global hotel portfolio going from 170,000 to 180,000 total contracted hotels available on its booking platform.
