Palma, Spain, 26 January 2023 – Hotelbeds and NH Hotel Group are celebrating the positive first year of their partnership, with bookings made last year increasing 69% versus 2019.

The agreement provides Hotelbeds’ clients with access to NH Hotel Group’s 355 properties in 31 countries around the world as part of its preferred partnership status.

Carlos Muñoz Capllonch, Chief Commercial Officer at Hotelbeds said: “Despite some industry headwinds in 2022, the first year of our partnership with NH has been a resounding success, with the last four months of the year particularly encouraging as we saw bookings soar 76% versus the same period in 2019. NH is synonymous with excellence and the results show the demand its properties are in with our clients.”

The group operates under eight brands focusing on: Anantara – absolute luxury brand with presence in 23 countries, Tivoli – deluxe brand that is celebrating its 90th Anniversary, NH Collection – Upper Upscale hotels located in the main capitals of Europe and America; Avani- lifestyle brand, nhow Hotels – unconventional hotels in the most international cities, and NH Hotels – upscale brand with urban hotels in prime locations.

Hotelbeds builds on successful first year of partnership with NH Hotel Group (Part of Minor)

Palma, Spain, 24 January 2023 – Hotelbeds has collaborated with The Leading Hotels of the World (LHW), expanding its luxury collection across the group’s more than 400 properties.

The new preferred vendor agreement gives Hotelbeds’ clients access to a significant luxury portfolio for the first time, which offers properties in more than 80 countries around the world. In turn, the agreement opens up Hotelbeds’ 195-country distribution system to LHW’s hotels providing a wealth of benefits, including increased revenue streams and its industry-leading ability to ensure rate parity across all of its channels.

“This new agreement opens up The Leading Hotels of the World to our vast roster of booking platforms including 64,000 retail travel agents, while also expanding our range of high-end properties,” said Paul Anthony, Hotelbeds’ Digital Commercialisation Director. “We have seen increased demand for high-end properties this year and this new alliance will help us to meet this growing sector.”

Hotelbeds has become part of LHW’s Leading Strategic Sourcing (LSS) program, spearheaded by LHW and DayBlink GPO. The initiative offers a strategic group purchasing program for LHW’s portfolio of global independent hotels, which serves members by helping them capture new demand, access innovative sales, marketing and technology solutions to empower their success, and drive value to hotels in other strategically important categories.

Over the past year, Hotelbeds has seen an increase in luxury bookings with many destinations experiencing growth above 50%.

Hotelbeds expands luxury portfolio with  The Leading Hotels of the World alliance

Palma, Spain, 16 January 2023 – Hotelbeds has hired Daniel Nordholm in a newly-created leadership position focusing on enabling financial services. Starting today, Daniel will be part of the company’s Executive Committee and report directly to CEO, Nicolas Huss.

He will be based in his native Sweden, where he has held a number of senior positions including Chief Technology and Chief Product Officer roles over his 20-year career. At Hotelbeds, Daniel will be responsible for driving new products in the financial services arena that will offer transformative solutions for both the company and the wider travel ecosystem.

Palma, Spain, 29th November 2022 – &nbsp;The appetite for travel shows no signs of slowing down at Hotelbeds as the company is expecting growth of 30% above 2022 levels* over the next 12 months but new trends are emerging as consumers not only seek new experiences but also ways to make their trips easier and hassle-free.

“As we lead increasingly busy lives, we no longer have time to book each element of our travel separately,” said Nicolas Huss, CEO of Hotelbeds. “We, as consumers, are also very frustrated with the friction that we encounter. As the New Year approaches, here are the seven trends Hotelbeds predicts will shape the travel ecosystem in 2023:

1. Revenge travel

If the past couple of years have taught us anything, it’s not to wait. Revenge travel will continue to gain momentum next year as people prioritise travel. Hotelbeds’ data shows growth for next year with analysis suggesting 30% more room nights will be booked in 2023 compared to this year* showing that rising inflation is not putting people off travelling.

2. Connected trip

As consumers become increasingly time-poor, they not only want to have everything in the palm of their hand, but they want a one-stop-shop for all their travel needs too. This frictionless experience extends to all aspects of the experience from booking all elements of travel at once, including the hotel and theme park tickets to breezing through the airport using biometrics rather than scanning your passport to board an aircraft.

3. Improved customer experience

Travellers are increasingly looking for a personalized service. They no longer want to be passenger 17A on an aircraft or room 303 in a hotel. They are now moving away from price and choosing experiences that are more individual. In a service sector such as tourism, consumers attach great importance to the quality of services and experiences and are willing to pay more to companies offering focus on customer-centricity.

4. Digitalization of hotels

We’ve already seen a shift towards digitalization in the hotel sector through for example, offering services like mobile room keys and remote check-ins and -outs, and now it’s going one step further to make hotel operations more efficient. Hotels need to access real-time data, so they know to staff up or slim down. Realtime occupancy data can make cleaning staff more productive by prioritizing which rooms to service first, while QR codes and digital menus not only make ordering food and other items seamless, but it also has a positive impact on the environment too by reducing paper. It’s a win for the customer and a win for staff, empowering them to focus on the most impactful and guest interactions. Hotelbeds is supporting this shift by working with its suppliers to utilise connectivity to remove manual intervention and thus friction in its service.

5. Focus on Fintech in travel

Travel demand is surging but cancellations, delays and staffing shortages continue to plague travel operations, creating friction and stress for travellers. For travel companies pushing to regain and expand their market share in the current chaotic environment, travel fintech offers compelling solutions by freezing prices, changing or cancelling reservations and easily rebooking disrupted flights, paying with whichever payment methods they find convenient. Travelers are willing to pay for the added confidence – and suppliers reap the benefits of more direct bookings and a new revenue stream&nbsp;too. As awareness and adoption of fintech products grows, travellers increasingly will expect the option to lock in prices and gain peace of mind. The travel companies who provide it are more likely to thrive in the post-COVID environment.

6. Raise of sustainable travel

Recycling, hybrid cars, reducing plastic – all ways consumers are reducing their environmental impact. And now tourism is being added to this list too as more travellers seek sustainable trips so they can explore the world without damaging it.

7. Combining business with leisure

With hybrid and remote working here to stay for many, people are taking advantage of the ability to work from anywhere and combining business with pleasure. Barbados was an early pioneer offering the Barbados Welcome Stamp, allowing visitors to stay for up to a year and now many companies – including Hotelbeds – allows its teams to work in any location for extended periods, which has shown to boost employee morale.

Hotelbeds predicts 2023 travel trends

Palma, Spain, 30th September 2022 – As the summer has just come to an end, Hotelbeds presents today a round-up of the top 5 trends for this last summer. With rich data gathered from its unique position at the heart of the travel ecosystem, Hotelbeds can provide a complete picture of supply and demand.

Antalya, here we come! 

Some Mediterranean destinations, especially the Eastern area, have far exceeded 2019 volumes this summer. Cyprus, with +48%, followed by Turkey, with +33%, are the big winners this season in Europe. The city of Antalya alone has improved by +50% vs 2019, making it Hotelbeds’ best-selling destination for the summer! Travellers from the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Sweden have sought out the charms of the Turkish destination this season.

Other popular destinations were Rhodes (+30%), Malta (+26%) and Greece (+20%).

Latin America is booming

In recent months, Brazil has almost doubled its volumes, reaching +90%. Rio de Janeiro, its most in-demand destination, has quadrupled precovid volumes, and cities such as Brasilia, Fortaleza, Maceio and Curitiba have reached +300%.

In addition, Mexico has also grown considerably, with +50%. Peruvian travellers, followed by North Americans and Colombians, are the ones who have visited the country the most, travelling to cities such as Mexico City, Los Cabos or Acapulco.

Average daily rate soars

This summer, the average daily rate (ADR) has increased by +17%, hitting rates of over €600 per night in some of Hotelbeds’ top luxury destinations, such as Hawaii. Luxury hotels on the Amalfi Coast, Mykons and Maldives are up to €400 per night.

On the other hand, if more affordable destinations are sought, Rio de Janeiro and Bangkok are close to €60 per night.

Europeans are now booking well in advance

Although last minute was a strong trend since the pandemic unfolded, travellers from the UK, Ireland and the Netherlands are again making their reservations far in advance. Currently, these guests are booking an average of 4 months in advance of their arrival date. While in China, and much of APAC, travellers are still booking at the last minute, with an average of 10 days in advance.

Let's stay longer

It is well known that summer is a time to rest, which seems to be the reason why travellers heading to leisure destinations such as Antalya, Crete, Rhodes, Majorca or Algarve decide to stay longer than a week in their chosen location. The Turkish coastal district of Marmaris was where guests stayed the longest, with an average of 9 days.

Pippa holds an impressive track record gained from her extensive career in the APAC hospitality sector. With the creation of a new destination marketing segment to attract professional travel buyers, Hotelbeds is securing special promotional rates on hotels and transfers in Istanbul, while maximising the exposure of one of the world's busiest airports. In doing so, the company aims to offer its customers a new way to access the best prices and availability in the market, while engaging and educating the global travel industry about the services iGA Istanbul Airport offers to millions of FIT (Free independent travellers)&nbsp;leisure tourists.

Palma, Spain, 21st July 2022 – Hotelbeds has today announced its new Environmental, Social and Governance strategy, which aims, as Hotelbeds’ CEO Nicolas Huss describes, "to take Hotelbeds' position on ESG to the next level and galvanise our commitment to making travel a force for good”.

This commitment is not a new one for Hotelbeds, with a range of ESG related initiatives already under its belt, including:


	Signing up to The Climate Pledge – the first B2B travel company to do so;
	Achieving carbon neutral status for over four years consecutively;
	Its Green Hotels Programme and
	Its on-going support for Ukraine through its Make Room 4 Ukraine programme.


It also reacted quickly during the pandemic, moving its volunteering activities for employees online to support a wide range of NGOs and groups supporting vulnerable communities around the world.
