Palma, Spain, 25 April 2023 – Tourism leaders from&nbsp;across the world are preparing to gather in Cancun, Mexico, next month to debate “Where Next?” for the travel industry at the 10th edition of the MarketHub Americas by Hotelbeds.

The two-day conference, on 10-11 May, will look at who the traveller of tomorrow is as well as the generation of disruption and the impact this will have. Additional topics will cover the power of personalisation and how innovation will guide the future of travel.

MarketHub Americas asks ‘Where Next?’ for travel

Palma, Spain, 19 April 2023 – As Earth Day approaches this weekend, Hotelbeds’ has reported a surge in the number of travellers booking eco-friendly hotels.&nbsp;Its latest data shows that 30% more people have actively chosen to book properties that are part of the TravelTech company’s Green Hotels programme over the past 12 months compared to the previous year. Criteria for Green Hotels properties, as certified by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, includes sustainable management and cultural impacts.&nbsp;“Travellers are much more conscious of their carbon footprint and impact on the environment than ever before,” said Nicolas Huss, Hotelbeds’ CEO. “We started the Green Hotels programme in 2020 with 15,000 properties and its since grown to more than 37,000 hotels, representing over 20% of our business as more people actively seek to protect the planet while also exploring it.”&nbsp;Hotelbeds is also growing its plastic-free hotel portfolio, and this has seen a huge 84% increase over the past year versus the prior 12 months. Customers seeking both a green and plastic-free hotel has also grown by 30% this past year.&nbsp;The new data comes as Hotelbeds released its annual Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) report. The 2022 edition reports a number of achievements to lower the company’s environmental impact, including a reduction in energy by 48%, waste by 76%, water by 57% and paper by 54% in 2022 versus 2019. It is also making great strides in the Hotelbeds Forest, an initiative that aims to plant 10,000 trees this year to assist its fight against climate change and offset some of its carbon emissions.&nbsp;Hotelbeds is committed to making travel a force for good. Hotelbeds sees 30% growth in sustainable travel

Palma, 17 April 2023 – As part of its ongoing commitment to its customers, Bedsonline is launching its first loyalty programme for all Spanish travel agents. The initiative will enable travel agents to earn points on every booking that can be redeemed on more than 30 different brands such as Amazon, Adidas, MediaMarkt or Port Aventura.

Bedsonline launches loyalty programme for travel agents 

Amsterdam, 30 March 2023 – AI, robots and connected apps will improve the efficiency of the travel industry whilst also improving the customer experience, innovation leaders told attendees at the MarketHub Europe by Hotelbeds.

Addressing the audience of 400 tourism leaders in Amsterdam today (30 March 2023), Irene Gómez, Open Innovation Director at Telefónica said: “Tech is blurring the lines between sectors and industries. ‘Tech and AI will challenge travel status quo’

Tourism leaders reveal the traveller of tomorrow at MarketHub Europe 

Amsterdam, 29 March 2023 – &nbsp;Wellness breaks and walking in the footsteps of your favourite TV characters are just two of the emerging trends in the travel industry unveiled by Hotelbeds’ CEO, Nicolas Huss during the company’s MarketHub Europe taking place in Amsterdam this week.

Under the theme “Where Next”, conference delegates debated the “Traveller of tomorrow”, pinpointing new themes that will drive the industry in 2023 and beyond.

Huss revealed that 39% of global travellers who considered trips to destinations after seeing them on shows or movies went on to make booking. TV tourism was the second most influential source of travel inspiration – just 2% behind the long-standing leader, advice from friends and family.

“The ongoing sophistication of the traveller is not only about the pricing comparisons and high customer service; Travellers also want to enhanced and sophisticated experiences that nurture their worldview and help them relive TV shows while also reconnecting to themselves, nature, philosophy,” Huss told the audience of 400 travel and tourism leaders.

Personalization was another key theme during the first day of the conference, while wellness breaks are also on the rise.

“Wellness breaks have bounced back from 2021, recording a rise of more than 30% last year,” Huss said. “Almost half of global travellers are also more open to wellness breaks than ever before, which underscores that travellers are becoming more sophisticated and their worldview is changing towards more balanced life internally and externally.”

A desire for connected trips and an individual experience are driving the industry forward. This was echoed by Raphaël Zier, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of PerfectStay, who said: “I strongly believe we are witnessing the end of the search engine as we’ve known it for the past 20 years – very soon we will see an evolution in the digital ecosystem. ChatGPT is one example of how AI can provide a ‘one-to-me’ experience instead of a ‘one-to-many’ or even ‘one-to-one’ experience. This will likely generate huge loyalty from customers.”

Themed tourism on the rise – Hotelbeds

 MarketHub Europe to welcome 400 tourism leaders

Palma, Spain, 16th March 2023 – Hotelbeds has seen strong demand in Greece since the start of 2023. Over the past three months, bookings have grown &nbsp;40% versus the same period in 2022 and 12% over the same time frame in in 2019. These figures cement Greece’s position as one of the most sought-after destinations, ranking in the top 10 for Hotelbeds clients.

To celebrate this success and underscore the company’s commitment to Greece, Hotelbeds CEO Nicolas Huss, accompanied by COO Carlos Munoz and Florian Blois, Senior Destination Marketing Manager, visited the country this week. While in Athens, they met with the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO), as well as with several hotel partners and clients.

During the meeting with GNTO Secretary General, Dimitris Fragakis, GNTO Director General, Sofia Lazaridou and GNTO Director of Tourism Promotion, Eleni Mitraki, they discussed how Hotelbeds can contribute to the development and promotion of the country's tourism product, especially during the off season.

“It was an honour to meet with the GNTO to discuss how we can work together to further support the Greek tourism industry,” said Hotelbeds CEO Nicolas Huss. “We also shared our growth plans for the future and look forward to continued success through closer working relationships with our local partners.”

MarketHub Europe to debate the future of travel

Hotelbeds extends its network via new partnership with Juniper Travel Technology

Palma, Spain, 6 February 2023 – Hotelbeds has seen a significant rebound in demand since the start of 2023, including securing its best booking fortnight by revenue in its history, securing more reservations from 9-22 January than ever before. During peak times, Hotelbeds recorded one booking per second.

Carlos Muñoz Capllonch, Hotelbeds’ Chief Commercial Officer said: “January is often a popular holiday booking month as people return to work and book holidays to look forward to later in the year. The traffic we saw earlier this month, not only demonstrates the demand we have, but also the robustness of our systems to work seamlessly and ensure smooth operations for our global clients.”

In addition to hotel bookings, Hotelbeds has also seen a significant increase in revenues in its other products this month, including car hire, transfers and attractions such as theme park tickets and other activities. The company’s ancillary services division is having its best-ever&nbsp;year so far with sales up 55% versus 2019 driven by strong demand for theme parks, car rental and transfers.

Mark Antipof has joined the company today in the newly-created position of Business Development Director, tasked with developing new products, segments and business models to accelerate growth across the business.
